Intro to Knitting

Adults · Learning
This course will teach the basics of knitting - casting on (i.e. putting the first stitches on the needle) and knitting. Because it is easier to learn in the context of a project, we will be making coasters, and you can find the free pattern for Beginner Coasters here You are welcome to make something else or just practice - it's up to you!
Audience: Adults
Supplies:
Yarn and needles. To make the Beginner Coaster pattern, you will need US size 11 needles and super bulky weight yarn (this is thick yarn, and the label will specify needle sizes between US sizes 11 and 17 - anywhere in that range is fine). If you're making something else, you will want to get a size of needle that works with your yarn, and here are some Knitting FAQs about how to choose yarn and needles that go together.

You can also purchase our kit which includes all the materials: Beginner Coasters Kit
