No Place For Narcissism

Conventional wisdom suggests leaders with narcissistic tendencies can be beneficial for the mission. This is like saying cancer can be beneficial. It’s more than likely that someone in your workplace is only interested in personal gain, and you may think you need to become more like them in order to get ahead. You don’t. The research is quite clear: the excessive pursuit of self-interest is toxic. This session 1) orients listeners to the full range of self-serving behavior and 2) presents ways to prevent & mitigate selfishness in the workplace. The presenter, Brent French, PhD, MBA, is a retired USAF Colonel. Formerly on faculty of the Naval War College, he currently helps run the Foisie School of Business at Worcester Polytechnic Institute, teaches courses on leadership and organizational behavior, and conducts research on mental complexity.
